Booking Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions (“Conditions”) carefully before booking your accommodation. By booking a stay with St Mawes Escapes, you agree to these terms, which are designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests.

1. Introduction

When you make a booking and pay the deposit, a legally binding contract is created, and you will receive a confirmation email. These Conditions govern all bookings through stmawesescapes.com, operated by St Mawes Escapes of Moonfleet, Freshwater Lane, St Mawes, TR2 5AR (“St Mawes Escapes”).

The booking is made on behalf of the property owner (“Owner”) and you, the customer (“Occupier”). This agreement does not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer protection laws.

2. Booking & Payments

A non-refundable deposit of 40% is required to secure the booking. The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to arrival. Bookings made within 60 days of arrival must be paid in full at the time of booking, including any requested damage deposit.

3. Cancellations

All cancellations must be made in writing. Refunds depend on the notice period as follows:

  • More than 60 days before arrival: 40% of the holiday cost refunded
  • 30–60 days before arrival: 20% refunded
  • Less than 30 days: no refund

 

We strongly recommend you take out comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance. 

4. Termination

We reserve the right to cancel or terminate your booking for non-payment, disruptive behaviour, bringing unauthorised pets, or breach of these terms. No refund will be given in such cases.

5. Liability

St Mawes Escapes acts as a booking agent and accepts no liability for any aspect of the accommodation arrangements. This does not affect liability for death or personal injury caused by our or the owner’s negligence. While we strive for accuracy, no liability is accepted for any misdescription of properties or facilities.

6. Occupancy

Only named guests may stay overnight. No unapproved visitors or parties are allowed. Check-in is from 4:00pm, and check-out is by 10:00am. No smoking or vaping indoors. Please keep noise to a minimum between 10:00pm and 8:00am.

7. Pets

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and subject to an additional charge. Pets must be booked in, kept off furniture, not allowed upstairs, and not left unattended. Owners must clean up after pets. Additional cleaning fees apply if required.

If you bring a pet without prior agreement, we reserve the right to terminate your stay without refund.

8. Damage & Security

You are responsible for any damage or breakages caused by you or your guests. A refundable damage deposit may be required and will be returned within 14 days, less the cost of any repairs or replacements. Please report all issues promptly. Lost or unreturned keys will incur replacement costs.

9. Parking & EV Charging

Please use designated parking spaces. Do not use standard sockets or extension leads for electric vehicle charging. This is prohibited for safety reasons and may cause damage. You will be liable for any resulting damage or loss.

10. Force Majeure

If government-imposed restrictions or force majeure events prevent you from travelling or using the property, we will work with you to reschedule or offer a voucher where possible.

11. Behaviour Clause

If your behaviour or that of your group risks causing damage, offence, or disruption, we reserve the right to terminate your stay immediately. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

12. Complaints Procedure

If you experience any issues during your stay, please contact us or the property manager within 48 hours so we can try to resolve the matter. If unresolved, we may refer the dispute to an independent mediator.

13. Data Protection

We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Your data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
